Stay Sharp Weekly
The Stay Sharp Weekly newsletter equips Christian men to get sharp and stay sharp in every area of their lives.
Hey brother,
It is possible to be the wrong kind of dangerous man.
25 years ago, 19 men hijacked 4 planes with one mission. All of these planes crashed, three hitting their targets, killing nearly 3000 people in one coordinated terrorist strike against the United States, our citizens, and our ideologies.
These were Muslim men, deceived by an evil demonic religion and its leaders. They had been invited into a story that twisted their minds and spirits so powerfully that they were willing to kill themselves and thousands of innocent people for it.
This is the power of story. This is the power of history.
As we explore how to become the right kind of dangerous man, the first Domain of Danger is HISTORY.
The wrong kind of dangerous men do not know the truth about their history. They either haven’t processed their past because they are deeply afraid of the pain, or they have been deceived into believing lies about it.
You may believe that you are not a dangerous man because you would never hijack a plane or kill anyone, but you can still cause incalculable pain in the lives of those you love if you don’t reckon with the truth of your story.
Pain that does not get processed gets passed on.
Everyone else pays the price for our lack of honesty and courage to face the demons of our past. In fact, if you’ve been trying to break through and level up but you can’t seem to get there, it may be time to turn around and meet Jesus in the dark places of your past.
The direct path to the breakthrough you desire is through the dark places from your past you are most afraid to enter.
If that strikes fear in you, remember Jesus in the garden.
He sweated blood because of the dark place he knew he must go to - the cross and beyond. But he did it because he loves us. He did it so he could cut a path for you and me, so he could light a way through the darkness, so he could meet us in our moments of greatest pain and rescue us… even there.
The truth about your pain
Be encouraged! Your greatest pain is likely the seed of your most powerful calling and impact in the kingdom of God. The longer you deny and bury it, the longer you delay healing for yourself and for others.
THIS WEEK’S TOP 3
- READ: Hebrews 8
- THINK: “The direct path to the breakthrough you desire is through the dark places from your past you are most afraid to enter.” Has this been true in your life?

- ACT: Invest 10 minutes today and ask God, “Is there unprocessed pain from my past that you want to heal? Will you show me the way through?” Listen and write down what you hear from him. Reach out to me or to another brother and share what you hear.
