Whether you’re in a dream job or in a dead-end career, don’t despise the days of manna.
The real sin of the Israelites in the wilderness was their ungrateful hearts toward God. They couldn’t see his faithful provision because they grew tired of its taste.
Now the rabble that was among them had a strong craving. And the people of Israel also wept again and said, “Oh that we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic. But now our strength is dried up, and there is nothing at all but this manna to look at.” Numbers 11:4-6
The trap is that everything eventually tastes bad with a scoop of ungratefulness.
On the contrary, contentment in Christ and trust in Him brings out the God-flavors in everything.
Listen, I’ve been on an entrepreneurial, bi-, tri-, quad-vocational ministry path for the last 12 years. Last week I was preaching and leading worship. Then I was consulting with a business owner about healthy leadership strategies. And just this morning I was in a crawlspace getting dirty.
Whether I’m filled with gratitude or grumbling, that’s up to me and it’s by God’s righteousness taking ground in my sinful heart. I pray that he sanctifies our hearts and bends us toward seeing abundance in everything.
How about you? Where are you today? Are you living in gratitude or are you grumbling?
Consider moving toward gratitude ASAP!
