Stay Sharp Weekly
Man of God,
The Lord has called me to encourage and equip you to become a man fully-alive, loving Him with all your soul, heart, mind, strength, and mission. As men, often times, our heart - the home of our emotions - doesn’t get much attention or cultivation, so we stay immature and undeveloped. But this makes us the wrong kind of dangerous.
Being more like Shackelton
You’ve probably heard of the famously failed Antarctic expedition of The Endurance and its captain Ernest Shackleton.
He and every one of his men survived an Antarctic winter with few provisions and minimal shelter. How did they do it?
Were they tough? Yes.
Were they trained? Mostly.
Were they crazy? A few did go a little crazy.
But how did they survive?
It was leadership.
Last month I attended the Forming Men conference and Jeff Bethke brought out this powerful quote about Shackleton’s leadership.
“Each morning, Shackleton made tea, cracked jokes, and refused to let fear set the emotional temperature. His men later said: “When he looked at you, you felt safe.” His serenity became the immune system of the crew and he has many times over been referred to as “the man who kept his men alive by the force of his calm.”
Man of God, are you this kind of force in your family? Your work place? Your church? Your community?
I know you want to be.
When others look to you do they feel safe?
Is your emotional temperment one that brings peace and confidence to others or volatility and insecurity?
If you are wrestling… if you love Jesus and want to be like him… but you don’t know quite how to get there… let me show you the way. Let me show you how to be a man who can control the emotional temperature of your life.
Let’s walk together drawing near to Christ and catch a vision for the man of confidence and peace that he has created you to be.
This is why I created The WHETSTONE 90 Day Reset - a transformative group coaching program for Christian men. I want to guide you to become “the immune system” of your family and community.
