What's up, my man?
I’m a big believer in building habits that put action to our faith. Like James says, “I will show you my faith by my works.”
But, if you want to change your trajectory in life, make better decisions, and grow more courageous in your faith, good habits are only part of the equation. They must be connected to driving desires that forge a compelling vision for the future.
Good habits that are not rooted in something you deeply desire will only last for a little while. They are only borrowed ideals that often reflect what someone else wants you to be.
If you’re struggling to stick to good habits like reading God’s word, investing in meaningful friendships, and praying consistently, don’t beat yourself up. We all struggle, but whatever you do, don’t quit.
Instead, ask yourself one question.
“What do I deeply desire in this season of my life?”
If you can seek the answer to this one question, it will bring clarity that will root your habits in something deeper.
Show me a man who knows what he wants - and even more what God wants for him - and I will show you a man who is more decisive and confident in all of life. A man of action. A man whose desire is unwavering and whose vision is more than words.
THIS WEEK’S TOP 3
- READ: Proverbs 23
- THINK: Here is a scripture worthy of our attention.
Let not your heart envy sinners
But continue in the fear of the Lord all the day.
Surely there is a future,
And your hope will not be cut off.
Proverbs 23:17-18
- ACT: Take a walk outside this weekend. Think and pray about your answer to this question, “What do I deeply desire in this season of my life?” Jot down some notes when you get back. It may sound mundane, but even a small dose of this kind of clarity can be the catalyst for the change you’ve been longing for.
