Stay Sharp Weekly
Welcome to the Stay Sharp Weekly newsletter— equipping Christian men to get sharp and stay sharp in every area of their lives.
Hey man of God,
I walked outside the other morning, enjoying the quiet of the woods surrounding our home. Then, as I stopped and stood on a rock for a moment, three little gnats came flying around my head. What was a peaceful moment quickly turned to distraction. Contentment turned to frustration. Stillness turned to swatting them away. These tiny bugs were ruining the moment!
Man of God, the lies of the enemy love to come to you like gnats in moments of peace. He loves to distract you, annoy you, and pester you until you can no longer enjoy the goodness that surrounds you.
But know this, distraction and deception are his only power. If you are a King’s man, one who is marked by the blood of the Lamb, then Satan is no more powerful than a tiny gnat. Do not give him the pleasure of your rising blood pressure and pointless flailing. Just keep walking. He has no power over you. Resist him with the truth and delight in God’s presence.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
James 4:7
This Week's TOP 3
READ: Proverbs 13
THINK: How often do we let eternally insignificant things control our mood and behavior? How can you “fix your eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2)” instead?
ACT:
Take five minutes this week when you are together with your family and create a list of 10 things you are grateful for.
We complain about how “entitled” younger generations are, but let’s not forget that we have a responsibility to “teach them diligently (Deuteronomy 6:7).”
Escape The Fog
Symptoms of the fog…
•drifting
•foggy thinking
•unclear vision for what’s next
•nothing you’re doing is working
•feeling disconnected
If this describes you, two things will clear the fog in your life: Light and Heat.
Bring the things you’ve hidden in the dark out into the light and get close to the heat of God’s word and his presence again.
Find other brothers to help you get back into the light and the heat, and then the fog will lift.
If you are in the fog at this midpoint of the year, send me a message. I’m leading a group of men on a journey out of the fog through my coaching program, WHETSTONE.
Men just like you are finding renewed clarity and purpose again. The fog is lifting, the fire is burning in their hearts again for the Lord, their families, and their calling in God’s kingdom.
Shoot me an email if you’re ready to get out of the fog!
Take courage,
Aubrey
