Stay Sharp Weekly
The Stay Sharp Weekly newsletter equips Christian men to get sharp and stay sharp in every area of their lives.
What's up, my man?!
Let’s play a little game of “would you rather.”
- Would you rather have a dull boring job or an exciting well-paying job?
- Would you rather have a dull relationship with God or a life-altering living relationship with Him?
- Would you rather have a dull foggy mind or a sharp mind?
- Would you rather have a dull lifeless marriage or a vibrant and fun marriage?
- Would you rather be a dull disconnected dad or a fully engaged awesome dad?
- Would you rather have a dull dismal bank account or an account overflowing with abundance?
- Would you rather have a dull heart that’s dinged up and misshapen by the past or a new heart that his healed and full of gratitude?
- Would you rather have a dull cloudy vision of the future or a razor sharp confidence in where you are going?
The answer to all of these questions is the latter. No one wants to choose to be dull. Unless you do, but then you’re crazy.
So why do we stay dull instead of choosing to stay sharp?
I’m convinced that it is one thing. Comfort.
We’ve become comfortable with the thought that this is just how life is going to be. We’ve become so accustomed to working with an ineffective, dull blade and living in dull relationships that we have concluded that this is just how it is. We've become too comfortable with dullness and dysfunction. We’ve heard the same old voices from our childhood saying that we are not remarkable, no one special. So, why even try?
But is this the “life more abundantly” that Jesus promised?
If this is it, then why don’t we just all quit this following Jesus thing and go live it up… eat, drink, and die young?
You may take offense to that statement, but you’ve thought it.
You were not made for dull. You were made to be razor sharp!
What percentage of men do you think feel really sharp in their identity, faith, relationships, health and vision?
1%?
5%?
I don’t know the answer to that, but it’s likely pretty low.
What percentage of men have the potential to become razor sharp in every area of their lives?
That’s easy. We all know the answer to that.
100%
So, why aren’t we choosing to get sharp and stay sharp? Why are we choosing to stay in the comfort of dullness and ineffectiveness?
There are three core answers for myself and for every man that I have coached.
- We don’t believe that it’s possible for us.
- We don’t know how to sharpen our edge.
- We are afraid of the pain we must face to be sharpened.
This is why I am here in your inbox every week. I am here to give you three things…
Vision
Knowledge
Courage
This is why I show up every day with the men that I coach. I help men like you build a toolbox that keeps their faith on fire, their family thriving, and their life aligned with God’s unique plans for their lives.

THIS WEEK’S TOP 3
- READ: Matthew 22
- THINK: Which of the “would you rather” statements caused you to be immediately uncomfortable? I challenge you to bring that to God in prayer this week. “God, why did I push back against that? Will you reveal what I can’t see and lead me to a breakthrough?”
- ACT: Which is more dangerous, the dull knife or the sharp one? Gather some good dudes and discuss around a fire pit.
