Stay Sharp Weekly
Jun 12, 2025
Welcome to the Stay Sharp Weekly newsletter— equipping Christian men to get sharp and stay sharp in every area of their lives.
Good Thursday Gents,
THIS WEEK'S TOP 3
READ: Proverbs 8
THINK: What is something I feel highly skilled or gifted at? How could you use that to serve God and others this week or in the future?
(Set a timer for 5 minutes to, pray, think, and write down your answers. If you don’t know yet, I love timers! :)
ACT: Use one of the conversation starters from the list below to make a meaningful connection with another brother this week.

When Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” he was talking about your mission. He commands us to become men who love God with increasing amounts of our heart, soul, mind, strength, and mission. One way to love our neighbor is to trash the empty scripts that we use daily and, instead, instigate life-giving conversations with those around us.

Love God with your heart, soul, mind, strength, and MISSION
When Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” he was talking about your mission. He commands us to become men who love God with increasing amounts of our heart, soul, mind, strength, and mission. One way to love our neighbor is to trash the empty scripts that we use daily and, instead, instigate life-giving conversations with those around us.
For example, we are quick to ask, “What do you do for a living?” If we’re honest, most of us don’t care about the answer. It may be a common conversation starter, but it is also an indicator of what we value as a culture. Too often we measure ourselves by what we do instead of who we are. In God’s kingdom, the top priority for his people is a God-aligned identity. Then, whatever we do builds on that solid foundation.
A wise friend once said to me, “Remember, you are a human be-ing, not a human do-ing.”
So, let’s change the script. The next time you meet another guy or bump into an old friend, try one of these conversation starters:
- What is something that you are passionate about?
- Tell me about your family.
- What is something you’ve discovered about God lately?
- Tell me something you love about your work or family life.
- What motivated you to be here today?
- What’s something you feel highly skilled or gifted in?
*Hit reply and tell me what you would add to the list.
Stay humble. Stay sharp.
