Stay Sharp Weekly
The Stay Sharp Weekly newsletter equips Christian men to get sharp and stay sharp in every area of their lives.
Hey man,
You’ve been living the school of hard knocks for too long. Some of these lessons have come from situations out of your control. But many of them have come because you keep running into the same traps over and over again. It’s time to choose differently.
Next time, when temptation comes, instead of an invitation, I challenge you to see it as an exit sign.
Temptation is not sin.
"But each one is tempted when by his own evil desires he is lured away and enticed. 15Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."
James 1:14-15
Temptation is a tool that Satan uses to draw you away, but God has given you a way to hotwire it and steal it like a movie muscle car.
See it coming. Anticipate it. Exit.
Have a plan for what you’re going to do when it comes and then… act. Decisively. Without hesitation.
Here’s a simple but powerful shift you can make right now.
Don’t ask, “What can I do to escape this temptation?”

Instead ask, “What would a man who has been freed from this sin do?”
Now, you’re not a helpless animal caught in a cage. Now you’re a free man who has more important things to do than mess with this stupid sin. You’re no longer a slave to that sin.
Now, practice it.
- What will you do when the swimsuit picture comes across your feed?
- What will you do when the co-worker begins to flirt?
- What will you do when you’re tempted to hide what needs to be brought into the light?
- Who will you call?
- What would a free man do?

Practice. Visualize yourself resisting temptation and taking the exit. Imagine yourself on the other side of the exit. Imagine punching Satan in the face and throwing him out of a moving vehicle. Isn’t that fun?!?!
THIS WEEK’S TOP 3
- READ: Matthew 24
- THINK: What would a free man do with the temptation you’re facing?

- ACT: As you prepare for work today, anticipate what temptation may come your way. Take 90 seconds to plan an exit strategy. What will you do? Pray this.
“Lord, help me to live as a free man, not as a slave to sin. Fill me with courage and boldness today to obey you and do your will.”
BOOKING FOR FALL 2026: RETREATS, LEADERSHIP SUMMITS, AND CHURCHES
One of my favorite things in the world is to speak at conferences, retreats and churches.
If you lead a church, run a men's ministry, host a retreat, or know someone looking for a speaker this fall. I'd love to be in the conversation.
I'm speaking on three topics right now:
Filter the Noise - a practical framework for quieting the mental chaos and living with the authority and peace of Christ.
The Right Kind of Dangerous Man - calling men back to the strength, clarity, and God-given intentionality they were wired for.
Fathering in the Age of AI - equipping dads to thrive, not just survive, in the new technological frontier.
If any of these feel like a fit for your people, shoot me an email. Let's connect.
