Hey, man of God,
There’s a line from Paul in Romans that has stuck with me since childhood. It made such an impact on me, in fact, that it was my first AOL email address, rmns34@aol.com. Ha!
“Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar.”
Romans 3:4
Do you feel the pressure to turn away from this truth, both from the culture around you and the flesh within? I know I do.
While so many people are grasping for something real and true, this scripture is an anchor for us. You can apply this to so many areas of life, but here is a perspective that hits the hardest.
“Let God be true, even if I am the liar.”
Some of the most persistent lies are the ones we tell ourselves.
- I’m too broken, unworthy, messed up.
- There’s too much water under the bridge.
- There’s nothing else for me in this Christian life.
- God’s sick of my crap.
- He couldn’t love me.
But my man, let God be true, even if you are the liar.
He loves you. He calls you son. He has good plans for you. His forgiveness is beyond your understanding.
So don’t lean on your own understanding. Plant roots. Take up your shield of faith. Speak to the lies.
“Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar.”
This Week's TOP 3
- READ: Proverbs 20
- THINK:
Be still, my soul! Your God does undertake
To guide the future as he has the past;
Your hope, your confidence, let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul! The waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while he lived below.From the hymn - “Be Still My Soul” (1752)
- ACT: Write Romans 3:4 on a post-it note and put it somewhere visible this week to integrate this into your daily life. Try your bathroom mirror, your steering wheel, or your computer screen.
Stay sharp,
Aubrey
