Stay Sharp Weekly
The Stay Sharp Weekly newsletter equips Christian men to get sharp and stay sharp in every area of their lives.
Hey man,
Did you watch G.I. Joe back in the day? I did. I can still sing the theme song word for word. Ha! They ended each show by saying,
“Now you know and knowing in half the battle.”
It’s true that knowledge is powerful. If you know the truth about a situation, you can make better decisions.
But sometimes, as we walk in faith, knowledge can become an idol and a stumbling block.
Knowledge and understanding are from the Lord, but the essence of faith is that there will be a measure of uncertainty or lack of knowledge. We have to be careful that we do not put conditions on our faith in God, that we do not pursue his will only when we have sufficient knowledge to satisfy our human mind and will.
Man of God, If you have had your head down in this season fervently pursuing knowledge, but coming up empty, it’s possible that you need something else first. The deep answers you are looking for are not on ChatGPT, Google, or in the next groundbreaking book.
What you need most is to grow in your knowledge of God’s love.
If you will plumb the depths of His character, you will find the insatiable hunger that you “must know” the answer will be satisfied in deepening trust in the infinite knowledge of God who loves you. And, yes, miraculously, by his grace, the answers you need will come.
THIS WEEK’S TOP 3
- READ: Matthew 15
- THINK:
“Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, he is known by God.
1 Corinthians 8:1-3
- ACT: Take five minutes today to write down the places where you need knowledge and answers. Then bring them to God in prayer.
“Lord, I bring these questions and problems to you. I lay them at your feet because you are the one who has infinite knowledge. I trust you to help me, but in this moment I know the one thing I need most is greater knowledge of you and nearness to you. Help me to abide with you today instead of worrying and striving. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
