Stay Sharp Weekly
Take a listen to the audio version of this week's newsletter.
Hey man of God,
I passed through security in the Milwaukee airport the other day and saw a sign over the area where travellers put their shoes back on or reconfigure their bags after they had been searched. In a large bold font, it read,
“Recombobulation Area”.

At first it cracked me up. I love it when places inject a little bit of humor into the mundane and functional. But then, it sent my mind into deep thinking mode.
The feeling of discombobulation is real, isn’t it? In some seasons, the experience of going through life makes our inner and outer worlds look like a suitcase that’s been ransacked or a traveler that’s been run through the ringer. If we’re honest, the stretching and overwhelm of providing for our families, caring for our marriages, advancing in our careers, and more can keep us in a constant state of discombobulation.
So, the simple question is, “Where are the recombobulation areas in your life?”
Do you have somewhere you go and a rhythm you practice to get your heart, soul, mind, strength, and mission rearranged and aligned with the heart of God again?
If you don’t, I wrote a book that you need to read. It has come from my own decades long battle with discombobulation.
It’s called Filter The Noise: How To Hear God’s Voice In A Culture Of Chaos.

Here is a link to the digital PDF of the book that you can access for free.

This Week's TOP 3
- READ: Proverbs 17 - 17:3 is a grown man's verse right at the heart of my vision for Whetstone. Are you ready for the refiner's fire?
- THINK: Where are your recombobulation areas? These are the spaces in your life where you meet with God, gather your thoughts, think deeply about the future, and wrestle with rich questions.
- ACT: Consider creating a writing or journaling practice.
- I have a habit of setting a timer for at least two minutes each day and writing whatever is on my mind..
- My friend John recounts the activities of his day in bullet-point style before going to bed.
- Make a grateful list.
- I love to write three wins at the end of each day.
Consider that writing is an ancient practice; a tried-and-true form of recombobulation.
Stay sharp,
Aubrey
"THIS IS SHOCKING!"
I had an amazing 90 minutes with a solid man of God this week. He signed up for a 90 Minute Sharpening Session with me, wanting to get clarity in a new season, refresh his communication with his wife, and fight against his lone-wolf tendencies.
At the end of the 90 minutes, these were his words. "This is shocking how much we accomplished together." His clarity, fire, and focus were back.
It's hard to believe that 90 minutes could change your life, but I know it can. I've seen God work so many times in these conversations.
God has gifted me to help you take the ruts, the mess and the fog of your current season and get you back on the road to confidence and clear purpose.
Text or call me. 214-709-3828.
I want you to experience what Jason experienced this week. Don't wait any longer. How has waiting helped you this far?
Be a man of action.
AND get this free hat too! :)
